As a mother of three children ages 5, 9 & 11, I am studying my Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) by day, working as an educator in a Childcare Centre located in Murgon, South-East Queensland by afternoon, private music teaching slotted before and after this, and wife and mum as well. Sometimes it would be nice to have a time out for me but as my study is important for our future and my work for financial support, this time out will have to wait for another two years when I have three months of down time planned before I start working as a Kindergarten teacher.
When this down time comes, I think I will just like to enjoy being wife and mum, and when the kids are at school, I will potter in my garden, play some music – favourite CD’s and my instruments (piano, oboe and guitar), and do some reading other than textbooks.
I am enjoying my studies immensely and learning much more than I thought possible. Sometimes I feel like an overloaded computer with the memory capacity of 250GB and only 249GB of memory left. Thankfully, the processor is still working fine though.
Love how you are scheduling some down before working, I understand, things are all about seasons and I hope you feel encouraged when you are tired to see that rest is within your 5yr plan. I am hoping that this unit will yield some time cutting applications for managing the classroom, so that when I start teaching I can utilize my time positively, as this is the biggest complaint I hear from teaching staff, the book work takes so much energy out of their day and they are continually searching for better ways to manage the planning, assessment and reporting side of teaching. Hoping for good things out of a challenging unit.
